ALOHA FROM JENNIE: Manoa is a popular area on Oahu to visit for a short and easy (albeit somewhat muddy) 1.5 mile hike. The entrance to the trail, as shown above, is nondescript, but once you get into the dense vegetation, hikers have described feeling as if they've stepped foot into Jurassic Park.
Lush views of interesting scenery include fragrant white ginger blossoms, pink flowering banana trees, mushrooms, and bamboo forests. The tall trees are pretty remarkable, some have compared them to California redwoods.
At the end of the hike, you're rewarded with experiencing the 150 foot tall waterfall and pool along with rock formations at its basin. The velocity of the waterfall depends on the weather, and is quite strong after a heavy rain.
Manoa Falls is only a short distance from Waikiki, and a hearty Hawaiian 'plate lunch' after the invigorating walk will nicely cap off your visit.
If you've had a chance to visit the Falls, hope that you'll share your comments.
